SCIENTIFIC BACKGROUND: Ryan is an R&D Senior Scientist working at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute in Barrington, IL. His primary focus is on helping with various innovation projects to support the sports nutrition portfolio from concept development to product launch. He provides guidance by offering a sports nutrition perspective to various projects, writing scientific reviews/white papers on different ingredients, and communicating with vendors. He also plays a role with external clinical research trials by working with other colleagues in PepsiCo on research study development, timeline planning, and monitoring trial progress. His primary interests in the field of nutrition include the impact of functional foods and isolated dietary constituents on exercise performance, recovery, cognitive function, and health. Ryan received his BS in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics from Illinois State University, completed a dietetic internship at Loyola University Chicago, and received his MS in Nutrition Education from Rosalind Franklin University. In his spare time, he enjoys exercise, reading, traveling, and cooking.
