SCIENTIFIC BACKGROUND: Ryan is an R&D Senior Scientist and Sports Dietitian working at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute in Barrington, IL. He plays a variety of different roles on the team by assisting with the collection of data during internal clinical research trials, working with cross functional teams within PepsiCo on innovation initiatives, and supporting knowledge management by aiding in the collection, distribution, and storage of scientific literature for the GSSI team. He also assists with writing scientific reviews on various topics related to sports nutrition. His primary interests in the field of nutrition include the impact of food and isolated dietary constituents on exercise performance, cognitive function, and health. Ryan received his BS in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics from Illinois State University, completed a dietetic internship at Loyola University Chicago, and received his MS in Nutrition Education from Rosalind Franklin University.
