Reid Reale is a senior scientist at the GSSI satellite Lab at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL where he contributes to both the research and athlete testing activities.  Reid earned his bachelor of health science from Deakin University in Melbourne Australia where he majored in exercise science and nutrition and completed an honors research year focusing on inflammation in human skeletal muscle in response to nutritional intervention. Following his undergraduate studies Reid completed a master’s degree in dietetics and gained the status of Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) and Accredited Sport Dietitian (ASD) in Australia. Reid then moved on to complete his PhD work through the University of the Sunshine Coast (Australia) and was based at the Australian Institute of Sport where he worked as a sports dietitian, primarily with Olympic combat sports. His PhD work focused on body mass management; investigating performance outcomes, acute weight loss and recovery (rehydration and refueling) in relation to the weight making practices of combat sport athletes. Reid has a strong interest in strength and conditioning and exercise programming which he utilizes to inform his own training and that of the students he coaches in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
