Athletic Background:
Played NCAA Division 1 basketball at Colorado State University. In her spare time, Kris enjoys hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and paddle boarding.
Scientific Background:
Kris Osterberg is a Principal Scientist at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) in Bradenton, FL. Kris recently rejoined the team and will lead the research efforts at the GSSI satellite location located at IMG Academy. Originally from Florence, Wisconsin, Kris attended Colorado State University on a basketball scholarship and received her BS degree in Exercise and Sport Science. While obtaining her MS degree in Human Nutrition, she worked in Dr. Chris Melby’s Nutrition and Metabolic Fitness laboratory where she conducted research on the effects of resistance exercise on resting metabolic rate in women, and the impact of caloric intake during exercise on post-exercise food consumption. Following eight years at GSSI, she attended Virginia Tech University and received her PhD. Her dissertation research focused on the impact of probiotics and diet on metabolic health. In her spare time, Kris enjoys spending time with her husband and three dogs, traveling, and playing outdoors.
