Athletic Background:

 Bridget played soccer and golf in high school and also competed in soccer at the collegiate level. After finishing up playing in college, she found a love in distance running and completed her first half marathon and plans on doing many more!


Bridget Sopeña is a Scientist at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute’s facility in Barrington, IL, where she previously worked as a research intern during the Summer of 2014. Her main responsibilities include leading GSSI’s Saliva Program as part of our Elite Recovery Sciences Program and serving as a lead on the Athlete Service team. As an athlete service lead, she evaluates athletes in their field of play to provide them with important information about their individual physiology, hydration, and sports nutrition needs. Bridget studied at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Clinical Exercise Science. During her time at EIU, she played Division I soccer and held a graduate assistantship managing the Assessment, Testing & Prescription Laboratory, teaching various Kinesiology courses, and assisting with the Adult Fitness Program.
