Biography:

Orlando is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Laboratory of Muscle and Environmental Physiology at the University of Florida in the Department of Applied Physiology & Kinesiology. Orlando has been actively involved as a consultant for the GSSI since 2013. In this role, he has focused on fluid and electrolyte balance in team sports, specifically working with soccer athletes. Orlando's research interests encompass a broad range of topics, including sepsis-induced myopathy, pathophysiology of heat-related illnesses, and fluid balance and sweat testing in elite athletes.

In his spare time, Orlando enjoys spending time with his family, reading biographies, and exercising outdoors (e.g., cycling, walking, tennis, soccer).
